Ryan Racy scored twice and Robert Rosenthal chipped in with two assists as North Broward Preparatory School recently won its third consecutive Statewide Florida Hockey League Tier 1 championship.
“Winning is everything,” said the 17-year-old Rosenthal, who effort helped North Broward Prep achieve a 7-1 victory over Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School at the Florida Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs. “That’s what you train for. You put all of those hours in and you want [a championship].”
The victory capped an 18-1-1 season for the Coconut Creek-based school. Former Florida Panthers’ defenseman Peter Worrell is the team’s head coach.
Rosenthal, a junior and a resident of Coral Springs, has been a member of three-time state champions since his freshman year. He led the league with 36 goals and 23 assists in 20 games.
